About Us

The Associació Guardians de l’Amazònia is a nonprofit organization based in Catalonia that, since 2016, has been promoting initiatives in international cooperation, education, and socio-environmental awareness in collaboration with communities, schools, and participating organizations.

The association works to ensure respect for the human and collective rights of indigenous peoples, their languages, their memory, their territories, their socio-biodiversity, and their traditional knowledge. It promotes cooperative relationships based on active listening, reciprocity, participation, and the recognition of communities as holders of rights and knowledge.

Through the Escola Intercultural Amazònia and its projects, we connect educational experiences between Catalonia, Brazil, and the Amazon to promote intercultural education, climate justice, the ethical use of technology, and the care of life.

At EiAmazonia, this mission takes the form of projects, exchanges, training, and educational resources developed in collaboration with participating communities and centers.

AREAS OF ACTION

International Cooperation and Participation

To promote international cooperation projects developed in partnership with communities, schools, organizations, and volunteers, fostering intercultural exchange, participation, and shared responsibility among all stakeholders.

The initiatives are carried out in the educational, cultural, social, and environmental spheres, in accordance with the priorities and capabilities of the participants.

Cross-cultural exchange among schools and educational networks

To foster direct connections between students and teachers at indigenous schools in the Amazon and educational institutions in Spain and other european regions.

These exchanges promote mutual learning, dialogue among diverse realities, and recognition of the relationship between territories, cultures, biodiversity, and the care of life.

Digital education, training, and access to educational opportunities

Support initiatives related to literacy and digital inclusion, teacher training, and the pedagogical use of technology.

Promote the production of locally developed educational materials and expand access to educational opportunities, including public higher education, in accordance with each community’s priorities and capabilities.

Safe Use of the Internet, AI, and Digital Rights

To promote the conscious, safe, ethical, and responsible use of the Internet, artificial intelligence, and other digital technologies in the regions where we work.

To promote community education and discussion on digital rights, privacy, health, risks, and community autonomy.

Sociobiodiversity, Languages, and Cultural Heritage

Recognize and value socio-biodiversity, languages, memory, traditional knowledge, cultural heritage, and the relationship between Indigenous peoples and their territories.

To promote initiatives developed by the communities themselves to ensure the continuity of their cultural, linguistic, and educational processes, as well as the environmental protection and sustainability of their territories.

Collective Rights and Community Empowerment

To promote respect for the human, collective, and territorial rights of indigenous peoples, as well as their autonomy, cultural identity, and their own forms of organization.

Promote the participation of young people, women, teachers, and community leaders in educational, cultural, and territorial initiatives aimed at strengthening the community.
